Plasterboard

Recycled gypsum from waste plasterboard has the potential to be used in a variety of applications which currently use gypsum from natural or synthetic sources.

Using recycled gypsum back into the manufacture of new plasterboard represents a neat closed-loop recycling solution. All three plasterboard manufacturers in the UK are involved in this.

There are also other end uses for recycled gypsum, although many of these have not previously been investigated or pursued to any great extent in the UK. WRAP is undertaking a series of trials and research projects to develop these alternative uses further, to help establish a more stable and sustainable market for recycled gypsum.
